Beauty From the Inside Out

It makes sense, so much sense it is hard to believe we Americans haven't gotten it by now. That old adage, "Beauty comes from within," is right, though not necessarily the way our mothers meant it. Lasting beauty comes from health: shiny hair, strong nails and teeth, and dewy skin. You can't buy these from a bottle (though they can be enhanced by a bottle!) no matter how expensive it is.

Beauty from the inside out is a trend that is growing across the country as is evidenced by how many new supplemental products are lining the shelves. Darren Krein, vice president of sales and marketing of Dolisos America in Las Vegas, Nev., believes that more and more people are buying the concept of beauty from the inside out. "I do think there is a trend in natural beauty products, but I'd like to think we are leading that trend," he says. "As a European-based country, we have seen Europeans use natural beauty products for years, it is just now really beginning to take off here in America."

Vitamin-Enriched Beauty

Vitamins have enriched topical beauty products for quite some time, but it has been only recently that the concept of taking vitamins to enhance your own natural beauty has developed.

Dolisos America offers two vitamin supplements designed more for beauty than for health, though with vitamin beauty treatments the two go hand in hand. EluSun is a natural skin tanning supplement designed to achieve a golden tan and softer, silkier skin in a healthy way. EluSun's formula is rich in natural carotenes, vitamins and essential fatty acids. EluHair is created for women to promote healthy hair that glows with natural vitality. Both products are natural dietary supplements.

Dolisos isn't the only company jumping on the vitamin/beauty products bandwagon. Boscia, the recent American incarnation of a successful Japanese skincare company, has entered the market with a vengeance. Caren Conrad, sales and marketing manger for Boscia in Irvine, Calif., believes that vitamins can make your skin healthy and beautiful. "Your skin is a good indicator for your entire life," she says. "It reflects what types of food you eat, or don't eat, whether you have stress in your life and if you are exposed to harmful environmental irritants like sun and smoke. It is for this reason that we have integrated oral supplements into the Boscia product line."
